The daughter of Freeman of Calderdale Mark Andrew says her dad was a true Yorkshire gentleman.

Mr Andrew died peacefully at Overgate Hospice last month aged 84, two months after his wife Roma passed away, and was father to Sara and the late William and granddad to Dan.

Sara said: “Dad was a true Yorkshire gentleman. His many interests, his enthusiasm and drive will be missed by many.

“My parents were an exceptional couple who touched the lives of many both near and far and I am so proud to be their daughter.”

Mr Andrew worked as an architect in Kenya, Uganda and Baghdad before moving to Halifax, where he became a West Yorkshire County Councillor.

He was also a director of Keep Britain Tidy, a member of the Yorkshire Tourist Board Executive and went on to be a founder of Yorkshire in Bloom.
