A group of friends are all set for a cycle challenge that will see them complete a round trip of 185 miles in memory of Elland man Chris Tarran.
The TT for Taz team held a party at the Booth Wood Inn, Rishworth, before the group consisting of Calderdale riders set off to the Isle of Man
Friends and family, including Christopher’s mum Pat Whitaker, attended the event where there was an auction and raffle with entertainment provided by the band Redstar.
Mrs Whitaker said the send off party had been a fantastic night and was thrilled with the £2,500 raised. “The team have been training hard and deserved to let their hair down. They have a massive task ahead of them but Taz would be proud and willing them on all the way,” she said.
The 21 cyclists, mostly all novices, decided to organise a charity ride and will be setting off from Brighouse at 5am on September 7 with all the money raised going to Macmillan Cancer Support and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Over £4,500 has been raised so far for the 53 year-old who died of cancer last November. For more information visit www.tt4taz.org.uk
