Two Minster officials die

the flag at Halifax Minster has been flying at half mast after the death of two prominent members.

Ian Shaw, the minster’s former director of music, died suddenly, aged 64.

An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned.

He had two children – Matthew and Alexa – and is understood to have lived in Hipperholme.

His funeral will be held at the minster on Monday at 1.30pm. Norman Tatham, a church warden for 20 years, died at Calderdale Royal Hospital, aged 88.

He leaves his wife Rosalind, daughters Felicity, Nancy and Penny, and grandchildren Richard, Elizabeth, Emily, Thomas, Simon, Matthew and Rosalind

His funeral will be at the minster on Tuesday at 10am.

A spokesman said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and friends at this time.”
