MORE lucky Courier readers have won our daily £500 cash giveaway.
Friday’s winner was John Holding, 60, who said he might treat his wife Gwen to something special as it is her birthday this Thursday.
“I never expected to win but I’m always hopeful – an eternal optimist.
“It’s my wife’s birthday on Thursday so I might spend a big chunk on her.”
The cash will also come in handy for the couple’s large family of eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Mr Holding, of Cherry Court, Crossley Gardens, Halifax, said: “It’s going to be a big help with Christmas. All our grandchildren will get a bit extra for Chistmas.”
When a winner is picked by the Courier, they receive a phone call and the winner must answer a question from that day’s paper to get hold of the cash.
Saturday’s winner Susan Horsfall, 57, of Woodlands Grove, Boothtown, said she was left frantically searching for the paper when she got the phone call.
She said: “I’d put the papers out for recycling, so I was panicking.”
But she found the paper and answered the question to win the £500. It was a lovely surprise. I’m in shock.
“It’s just come at the right time. I think I’ll buy something nice for me and I have two sons and a partner so they will all be having a share of it.”
