Two smashes on a busy weekend

Road traffic police were called to two car crashes over the weekend.

The first took place in Tuel Lane, Sowerby Bridge, just after 2am on Saturday morning.

Two cars were involved and the road was left partially blocked.

The driver of one of the vehicles was taken to hospital after receiving a deep gash to his head.

The second vehicle left the scene but was soon found nearby by police.

Two men were arrested.

A fire crew from Brighouse was called to the second crash, which happened on Sunday morning in Norwood Green, when an Audi travelling towards Leeds lost control before ploughing into a lamp-post.

The incident happened at 6.10am in Rucks Lane and left the car facing in the wrong direction.

Three people suffering minor injuries were taken to hospital.
