Two women taken to hospital following house fire

Firefighters were called to Pye Nest to reports of a house fire.

When the Halifax crew arrived two cars, a Saab and an Agila, were alight in a car port as well as part of the house.

The crew used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a large jet to tackle the blaze which they were called to at 4.30am this morning (Saturday) in Gainest.

Two woman were taken to Calderdale Royal Infirmary with smoke inhalation.

The fire destroyed the car port and caused smoke damage to the house.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
