A group of young people who a re not in work or education have been recognised for their environmental volunteering efforts by Calderdale Council’s Community Task Force.

The group completed a 12 week placement at Southowram Bank and acquired countryside management, construction and horticulture skills. The group was also helped with job seeking skills and three of the six volunteers have since secured employment or work experience placements. Calderdale Council Cabinet member for economy and environment, coun Barry Collins, said: “Community Task Force volunteers have made great personal progress towards employment whilst carrying out valuable environmental work for Calderdale.”
