Line dancing, music, zorbs and more formed part of a fun-filled afternoon at the Old Crossleyans Rugby Club, Halifax.

People turned out in their dozens for the day, arranged by Calderdale Council’s exercise initiative Upbeat and heart support group, Crew.

A walk of either three or five miles complemented the day of fun, which was held in the hope of raising funds for two life-saving defibrillator machines – used if someone was to suffer a cardiac arrest.

Numerous stalls and a barbecue added to the activities, while a mascot race featuring Upbeat Ted, Halicat and Blaze Bear of West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue was had, along with demonstrations from the Positive Pooches Canine Academy.

Upbeat manager, Julie Stott, said: “We’re trying to raise funds to buy some defibrillator machines across Calderdale.

“Each machine costs £1,000.

“We’re hoping to raise at least £2,000 so we can buy two defibrillator machines.

“We want to put one in a church hall in Halifax and we want to put one in another area of Calderdale.”
