A man has been arrested in connection with a fire which ravaged the first floor of a house in Illingworth this morning.
A fire crew from Illingworth and two pumps from Halifax attended the blaze at about 4.30am this morning (Sunday) on North Byland.
No-one was in the property at the time.
The service’s fire investigation team and scenes of crime team worked to determine the cause, which is now being treated as arson.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing a fire but is currently being treated for injuries at Calderdale Royal Hospital.
He is being kept under police custody in the hospital and will be questioned by detectives when he is considered fit to be discharged.
