UPDATED: Keighley Road reopened after pedestrian hit by car - man still in serious condition in hospital

A man rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Illingworth is said to be in a serious condition in hospital today.

The A629 Keighley Road was shut for three hours yesterday after the accident.

The 57-year-old man, from Halifax, was hit by a blue Chevrolet Spark at about 1.15pm between the junctions of Whitehill Road and Wrigley Hill.

He was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with serious head injuries and later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary.

His condition was today described as serious..

The road was closed in both directions while police investigated at the scene and reopened at 4.10pm.
