A 27-year-old man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary following an accident just after 3 pm today at Brow Mills Industrial Estate, off Brighouse Road, Hipperholme.
It took the emergency services around an hour to free the casualty who works at a unit on the estate.
The incident happened at the rear of Quantum Exhibitions and Display Ltd and the rescue was complicated by steep banking leading to the scene.
Crews from Brighouse, Cleckheaton and Halifax attended along with specialist experts.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance attended but the victim - who remained conscious throughout the ordeal - was transported to hospital by road ambulance.
Brighouse Crew Commander Michael Rhodes said rescuers used a crane from the industrial estate to lift the roller off the casualty.
As it was lifted away blocks were used to protect the casualty.
“It was very difficult and without the crane we would have struggled,” said crew commander Rhodes.
“The casualty was conscious throughout and talking but in pain.
“But, the job went well and we hope he makes a good recovery.”
