BURSTS of colour are already decorating Ripponden, and are now set to adorn people’s walls as the village’s In Bloom group launches its 2012 calendar.
The 12 pages feature a stunning selection of local photography including a picture of a street party for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June and Children’s Day trophy winners to mark the Olympics in August.
Jayne Smith, chairwoman of the not-for-profit group, said: “Last year we spent £2,000 on plants and put in over 2,000 man hours keeping the village looking beautiful. This is our big fund-raiser.”
The calendars were designed by Wordup Design, printed by Redwood Print, and funded by local businesses - so every penny from their sale will go to the group’s coffers.
They will cost £5.50 each or two for £10 from shops and firms in Ripponden or via www.rippondeninbloom.co.uk from September 1.
