Love was in the air as a Sowerby Bridge couple tied the knot on the most romantic day of the year.
Ben West and Jemma Wainwright exchanged vows at Calderdale register office, Halifax, in a romantic Valentine’s wedding.
The bride arrived at Spring Hall in a vintage Land Rover in time for the ceremony.
“We’re very, very excited,” said the new Mrs West, “and we couldn’t be happier.”
Mr West said: “We just want to thank everyone for coming and making today a really special day.”
The happy couple have taken a week’s honeymoon in the Florida sunshine. Five other Calderdale couples also celebrated Valentine’s weddings, with four ceremonies taking place at Spring Hall.
Calderdale Council’s cabinet member for communities, councillor Steve Sweeney, said: “Valentine’s Day is traditionally the most romantic day of the year; a busy day for chocolatiers, florists and jewellers, and also for registrars.
“Calderdale Council has a variety of venues across the borough, where you can get married, form a civil partnership or renew your vows, including Clay House, Spring Hall and Todmorden Town Hall.
“Ceremonies can also be conducted in any premises approved and licensed by Calderdale Council, such as civic buildings, hotels and stately homes.”
