A TIRELESS fundraiser has crossed the £30,000 line, bringing her closer still to her fund-raising target.

Vera Parojcic, from Greetland, set about raising £45,000 to buy a specialist glaucoma laser in April 2010.

Now, thanks to plenty of loyal local supporters, she wants to thank those who have dug deep to donate everything from pennies to thousands.

Halifax Freemasons took them on as the group’s charity of the year and handed over a £2,000 cheque.

The Aye Eye Ball at Bowers Mill, Barkisland, raised £5,500 .

And the Northowram Young at Heart club handed over £250.

For Vera, the most touching donations have been at talks she has given about living with the disease.

“Often people who least can afford to support me come along with tears in their eyes.

“They’ll squeeze a £5 note into my hand which is both humbling and rewarding,” said Vera, who suffered from the condition.

That brings her total to £33,217.

“Without people’s generosity, none of this could have materialised. A sincere thank you to you all.”
