Creative arts company verd de gris are seeking participants for their latest project exploring the shared experiences of women in Calderdale.
The 10-week cross-cultural, intergenerational project, called Behind The Mask, is funded by the National Lottery and starts on May 1 between 9.45am and 11.45am at the Hanson Lane Enterprise Centre.
It aims to work with women from Halifax’s Muslim community, women from the wider local community and female students from the Halifax Academy, encouraging them to share experiences, thoughts and feelings.
Shardon Marsden, from verd de gris, said: “We are interested in things in life we, as women and girls, share.
“What expectations do we carry with us or are subjected to? Expectations made by society, the media or family and friends.
“We all wear different masks. We feel we must present ourselves to the world in a variety of guises, but are these expectations limitations? How can we change this to allow us to let the real me shine through?
“There will be opportunities for joint-working across groups and sharing of ideas.
“The project will be completed July and culminates in a creative celebration event.”
