Victim escapes attempted knife-point robber in Huddersfield by punching him in the chest

A man punched an attempted knife-point robber in the chest in Huddersfield before managing to escape.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 4.15am yesterday (Thursday, October 30) as the victim walked along a cycle path between Alder Street and Red Doles Road.

The suspect demanded cash from the 33-year-old victim and threatened him with a knife.

Detective Constable Andrew Clayton, from Huddersfield CID,, said: “At that point the victim was able to strike out at the suspect and punched him in the chest before fleeing the scene and reporting the matter to police.”

The suspect is described as a white male, 5 ft, 9 ins tall, with short brown hair and what are described as bright coloured eyes. He was wearing a turquoise coloured tracksuit top, dark coloured trousers and white trainers.

The suspect was seen by the victim earlier in the evening when he was riding a dark coloured BMX-type bike.
