Mixenden Parents and Resource Centre staff have done the challenge taking social media by storm to raise awareness of itself.
Six of the team from the Stanningley Road centre took a drenching in the centre garden, this afternoon.
But before they got wet, centre manager, Liz Child, made a statement as to why the charity, which has played an integral social role on the North Halifax estate for 40 years, was taking part in the ‘ice bucket challenge.’
She said: “We are a local registered charity working in the heart of the community. Due to major cuts from central government it has not been possible for our local council to continue their long-standing support.
“Our current level of funding will cease in April 2015. Without funding, our centre will close.”
Liz went on to declare the centre’s nominations to take on the challenge before all six of the team took a soaking.
