The 18th century Heptonstall Methodist Chapel will be opening its Sunday school doors to villagers this Sunday from noon till 4pm, encouraging those with stories about the building or school to take part in a history project,
Orgainsers want residents to share stories for a ‘Memories and Keepsakes Day’ and bring photographs or memorabilia of the chapel or school.
Villager Amy Binns will compile recorded stories as part of the project. She said: “They are some of the most beautiful buildings in this historic village. We’d really like to hear from anyone who went on the Sunday School picnics, took part in the pantomimes or nativities, or attended weddings at the chapel.”
The chapel celebrates its 250th anniversary next year.
