Wakefield v FC Halifax Town: We can bounce back - Richard
TOWN have the character to bounce back from the 'devastation' of failing to pick up maximum points at Mossley on Tuesday.
That is the view of striker Richard Marshall who has already turned his thoughts to Saturday's trip to Wakefield.
The Shaymen appeared to be heading towards a 3-2 win when Marshall bagged an 88th minute penalty at Hurst Cross.
But they were dealt a massive blow when Mossley scored a dramatic equaliser in the fourth minute of added time.
"We thought we had won it at the end when we went 3-2 up but obviously there was a bit of a scramble in the box and they equalised," said Marshall.
"We were devastated, but that's how it goes sometimes.
"It will be a tough game because Wakefield are a big set of lads like Mossley.
"Hopefully we can play our football and get a result."
The Shaymen played plenty of football against Mossley without getting the reward they deserved.
"In the second half Mossley did not really have a chance," said Marshall.
"We battered them really and were disappointed we didn't win."
Marshall's goal was his 10th of the season in the league and 17th in all competitions.
It was a confident finish from the spot, following on from the successful kicks taken by Danny Lowe, Aaron Hardy and Nicky Gray against North Ferriby in the League Cup shoot out at the Shay seven days earlier.
And Marshall, who had left the field in the game against the Humbersiders before the game went to spot kicks, is clearly keen to hold onto the penalty-taking duties through to the end of the season.
"Hopefully," he said. "I have been wanting to take them for a few weeks.
"I took one on Tuesday and took it well, so it looks like I am on them now.
"I was delighted when it went in because I thought it was the winner."
Tuesday's draw means Town go into Saturday's game at College Grove 10 points behind leaders Lancaster with two games in hand.
But Marshall insists that he and his Shay teammates are unconcerned about their rivals at this stage.
"We can't worry about Lancaster," he said. "We just have to concentrate on our own games.
"They lost at the weekend so we just have to keep winning and see what happens.
"We have a great bunch of lads here and we will be back training tonight and looking to gewt three points at Wakefield."
Executive chairman Peter Trembling insists the search for investment to save Notts County will continue after a proposed takeover deal collapsed.
The League Two club need new investment to pay off their debts having been served with a winding-up petition over an unpaid tax bill.
"We did meet with them, but we have not been able to agree on a deal," said Trembling.
"They are well-established business people and it will be my pleasure to work with them at some time in the future."
