Midnight walkers are signing up to do the annual challenge to boost the coffers of Overgate Hospice in Elland.
The midnight “Walk For Your Star” will cover the moonlit streets of Calderdale on September 8 - on a 13-mile route to be unveiled on the night itself by the hospice’s fund-raising team.
Claire Horton, 43, of Rastrick Common, Brighouse, will be doing the walk in memory of her mum Denise Horton, 70, who died this year and spent ten days at the hospice, where she had previously worked as a bereavement counsellor.
Claire will be supported by friends - called Team Bear - who will walk in memory of Denise and also Geoff Hamilton, the father Laura Hamilton, also on the team. To sponsor them, visit www.justgiving.com/claire-horton0 or pick up sponsor forms in Brighouse from Park Row Hairdressing and Taste Buds Sandwich Shop on Bradford Road and The Secret Wardrobe, on Commercial Street.
Also signed up is the Hilditch family of Elland.
Elizabeth Hilditch has been the driving force behind getting her family involved after taking part last year with her granddad Tony. They have now signed up her dad Richard and cousin Joseph.
Faye Henderson, of the hospice, said: “We’re so pleased people enjoy it so much they take part in the event year after year.
“Calderdale will echo to the sound of stomping feet as our supporters walk the 13-mile route through the moonlit streets of Calderdale. “
Walkers will meet at North Bridge Leisure Centre in Halifax before learning the route.
