A MUCH-loved teenager who was killed in a car crash is inspiring a 60-mile sponsored challenge.
Family and friends of Naomi Gough, from Brighouse, will spend three days trekking from Halifax to Blackpool in her memory.
The 19-year-old had been on a day trip to the resort with a friend on the day she died in the accident on Burdock Way, Halifax, in January 2007.
The sponsored walk, organised by her family, has become an annual event and raises money for a charity for the families of young crash victims,
Since it was started, the walk has collected around £12,000.
Naomi’s mum Bev said: “I’m really proud the walk has kept going. When we started, we thought it would be a one-off.”
Last year more than 20 people took part in the event and Naomi’s family are hoping more will join in this year.
The walkers will be setting off on August 3 from Stead Street in Halifax town centre.
Proceeds from the walk will go to The Naomi Gough Memorial Fund, part of the Support and Care after Road Death and Injury charity.
