Walkers wanted for Three Peaks challenge

Macmillan Cancer Support has only five people signed up from the district for this year’s Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

It is now appealing for more walkers to join the 25-mile challenge on July 13 which last year attracted 365 people.

The challenge takes in the summits of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough and passes features such as the Ribblehead Viaduct.

Registration costs £35 and the charity would like walkers to raise £200 each in sponsorship.

Team Macmillan supports its entrants with newsletters and training guides and is on hand during the hike.
