Halifax mum Laura Parker organised a sponsored walk around Ogden Water to raise money for the children’s heart unit which saved her baby son’s life.

Five-month-old Mason had life saving surgery at Leeds General Infirmary, five days after he was born.

Laura organised the walk in which 40 friends, family and children walked twice around Ogden Water.

The walk has raised around £3,000 for the unit.

Organiser Laura said: “It was an impressive turn-out - I was overwhelmed at the amount of support we received. We couldn’t have asked for nicer weather - it was glorious.”

The impressive turn-out of participants has encouraged Laura to think about planning an annual sponsored walk and is already planning a charity fun day for this year.
