We’ll get you, say police

Have your say

the net is closing on people who fail to turn up at court.

In the last year, police in Calderdale have cut the number of outstanding court warrants by nearly half.

They are warning anyone who has not appeared when they were meant to that they should hand themselves in before they find officers at their door.

Detective Inspector Dean McIntrye said: “We have and will continue to take positive action with those wanted on warrant or anyone wanted for criminal offences.

“While we have significantly reduced the number of outstanding warrants, there is still plenty to do and I would urge anyone with information on those outstanding to contact police.”

In April 2010 there were 72 outstanding court warrants. That has been reduced to 38 this month.

If anyone has information about people wanted on warrant they should call CrimeStoppers, where information can be passed on anonymously, on 0800 555111.
