We’re all ready for Songs of Praise live!

PREPARATIONS are underway as singers get ready to harmonise their way on to BBC1.

Songs of Praise will film the Pentecost service live from Halifax Minster on Sunday and a second recording will take place on Monday for two programmes to be shown this winter. Choirs from across Halifax will be filmed on Monday for shows which will be broadcast in November 2011 and January 2012.

Conductor Paul Leddington Wright will put up to 200 singers through their paces, accompanied by David Houlder, assistant organist at Leeds Parish Church.

Groups including Halifax Choral Society, Halifax Young Voices and Halifax Chamber Choir will join together under his watchful eye to sing Angel-Voices Ever Singing and Blessed Assurance.

On Sunday the congregation will sing traditional hymns including Come Down O Love Divine and O Thou Who Camest From Above. The service will be led by the Vicar of Halifax, Hilary Barber.
