A GROUP of kindhearted friends have teamed up to spend the last day of their summer holiday’s raise vital funds for Overgate Hospice.

The friends, all aged between nine and 13, spent the last day of their summer holidays organising a bun sale, sponge throwing, target practice and a penalty shoot-out.

Edward Grummitt said: “We’re all just talking and decided to do something.

“We made cakes and buns and sold them on the street to our neighbours and friends.”

The children all go to Hipperholme Grammar, North Halifax grammar school and Brighouse High.

It’s not the first time they have fundraised, but this time they selected Overgate Hospice as recipient.
