FIREFIGHTERS and police swapped their uniforms for rugby kits for an emergency services sports clash.
The UK Fire Service Rugby League team took on the UK Police Rugby League team at Siddal Rugby League Club in Halifax.
Mark Allen, station commander at Morley and Rothwell fire stations, who helped to organise the match, said it was the second or third time the two teams have played each other.
“It was a really close game,” he said. “The police team beat the firefighters 32 to 24.”
The fire service team featured several West Yorkshire firefighters including two from Halifax white watch – Stephen Lewis and Fraser Coley.
Station Commander Allen said a crowd of firefighters, police and Siddal Rugby league Club members came to watch.
He thanked Siddal Rugby League Club and everyone else who had helped to make the game possible.
