PLENTY of pedal power will be needed for the charity challenge Phil Dent-Smith has set himself.

The 57-year-old from Sowerby Bridge is planning to cycle the Cragg Vale Incline as many times as possible in aid of addiction recovery fund Teen Challenge.

He will go up and down the route on the B6138 in Mytholmroyd, which rises 968 feet over a distance of five and a half miles.

He said he wants to collect funds for Teen Challenge because he has “always had a heart for anyone whose life has gone wrong”.

The charity helps people with drug and alcohol addictions and preventative help to those in danger of developing them.

Bike shop Pedal Sport, in King Cross Road, Halifax, has donated Phil a specialist bike to use for the ride.
