The Rotary Club of Elland pitched in to help children at Old Earth Primary School.

The children planted 300 wildflower meadow plants on the school field to create a wildflower meadow.

The work is being paid for by the Rotary Club.

Hazel Metcalfe, President of the Rotary Club of Elland, said: “Old Earth is one of our most supportive schools and they are very much involved in looking after the environment.”

The school is having four eco pod class rooms built, and it’s hoped the new meadow will attact wildlife to the area.

Children from the school will go to a garden centre and buy bug boxes to attract insects to the area, which will be paid for using a buget given to them by the Rotary Club.

“It’s going to be excellent,” said Hazel.
