ONE of the country’s top chefs is preparing to share her culinary skills with Courier readers.

BBC Masterchef finalist Sara Danesin Medio is to be a VIP guest tutor at Halifax’s Cooking School to lead an Absolutely Italian course.

And now there is chance for one lucky Courier reader to win the opportunity of winning a place on the course, worth £140 per person, to cook under the watchful eye of Sara and pick up some top tips from her.

Nearly 9 million viewers saw the nail-biting final of the top TV cooking show, hosted by John Torode and Gregg Wallace, and many of them expected Yorkshire-based Sara to take the title. But she was narrowly pipped at the post, finishing runner-up.

Sara’s passion for cooking stems from her Italian background growing up in Venice and Padua, and since Masterchef she has now given up her day job as an intensive care sister, and launched her own “restaurant” in her York home. The dining club Sara@StJohns is a chance for customers to sample her cooking in her home.

She will now be cooking some of her signature Italian dishes - Aubergine a la Parmigiana served with Tomato and Taggiasche Olive Concasse and Hand-made Pesto, Ricotta and Spinach Ravioli served with Beurre Noisette and Parmesan, Vanilla Pannacotta with Kirsch infused Summer Berry Compote and Aromatic Slow Roast Pork Belly with Mini Apples and Puy Lentils - at the Cooking School, Dean Clough, Halifax, next Thursday, September 15, from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
