We’re off to see the wizard...and quite a lot of other things too!

Saturday, September 20, sees a day of entertainment at this year’s Heptonstall Festival, which takes place at a number of venues in the village.

The day begins with a Wizard of Oz themed children’s parade from Heptonstall School to the old church ruins at 11am.

There will be more than 20 stalls in Weaver’s Square, the old church ruins and Towngate, two bars and two music stages, which will run at the church ruins (12.50pm to around 7pm) and Weavers Square (1pm to around 6pm) featuring a mix of rock and roots styles, with a classical concert at the Old Ruins at 8pm.

Heptonstall Sports and Bowling Club is another major venue introduced this year and will be home to the “Scrufts” fun dog show. Other community activities will also be taking place there.
