A woman has been sexually assaulted in broad daylight as she walked through Shroggs Park on Saturday afternoon.

Detectives in Halifax are appealing for information following a the incident that occurred around 11.50am.

The 19-year-old woman was walking alone through the park when she was approached from behind by an unknown male who sexually assaulted her.

When she turned around and asked what he was doing, he exposed himself before making off.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens to early 20’s, around 5”5” tall and of skinny build. He had a gaunt face, and pale skin and spoke with a local accent.

DC Louise Halliwell of Calderdale CID said, “Clearly this has been a traumatic incident for the victim, and I would appeal to anyone who may have been in or around Shroggs Park during mid - late morning on Saturday, and who may have seen someone matching the suspect’s description, or who may have witnessed the incident itself to come forward. Enquiries are continuing.”
