A woman was left with injuries and needed hospital treatment after being assaulted by two other women in a racially motivated attack.

The 49-year-old woman was walking through a ginnel near Grove Park, Ovenden, on Monday, July 25, when she was approached by a group of people, believed to be two women and two boys.

One of the group spoke to the victim, before the two women assaulted her. The victim received a number of injuries and required hospital treatment.

Police Constable Rick Hoyle, of Halifax Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This has understandably been a frightening and distressing incident for the victim and we are treating this as racially motivated.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in and around the area near to Grove Park last Monday evening and who may have seen either the group of people before or after the incident, or anyone who witnessed the assault itself to come forward with any information. Enquiries are ongoing.”

The first suspect is described as aged 20, with long blonde hair, of a stocky build and wearing a grey sweatshirt and dark trousers. The second is described as 30, also of stocky build and wearing dark trousers. Both are white and had two boys with them aged between 11 and 12
