Woodley Sports v FC Halifax Town: Junior's on a goal roll
JUNIOR Brown will be looking to extend a remarkable scoring run when FC Halifax Town travel to Woodley Sports on Saturday.
The former Crewe Alexandra trainee took his goal tally to six in six league games since returning from injury when he bagged Town's second in Tuesday's 2-0 win over Mossley.
But he says that there is no secret to his fine scoring form - he has just been in the right place at the right time.
"It seems like it is all coming together for me and the team," he said. "It is good to be on the scoresheet week in week out helping the team.
"I seem to be the fox in the box at the moment.
"Wherever the ball is bouncing I seem to be there so it is a good time.
"The team is buzzing, but you can't take anything for granted. We have to keep going."
Having moved up to second with Tuesday's win - their seventh in the last eight league games - Town will climb to the summit of Unibond One North if they win in Stockport.
And after a tricky start to the campaign, Brown believes that the club is now in a position to make a bid for promotion from the division at the first attempt.
"Hopefully we can keep this run going," he said. "I think we can sustain it.
"Teams around us have games in hand but will drop points.
"If we can continue as we are we can hopefully be there or thereabouts come the end of the season."
Town will face a new test on Saturday when they play a competitive game on an artificial pitch for the first time.
And while it will be Brown's first-ever visit to the Lambeth Stadium he is confident that the 'field turf' surface will suite the Shaymen's game.
"I haven't played at Woodley Sports, but I have played on artificial pitches in the past," he said.
"If it is a good quality surface it will suit us although it probably won't roll as well as it does at the Shay.
"I think we should be fine."
Woodley this week appointed four new directors to the club board with chairman Peter Sullivan stepping down.
