A NEW shop has opened its doors on the high street of Hebden Bridge. Makepiece is now up and running at 7 Market Street.
The shop, run by Beate Kubitz Nicola Sherlock-Windle, stocks woollen clothes, tagged as “from sheep to chic”.
“Our clothes are always very interesting. When we design things we approach it from a technical knitting position and that makes them a lot more 3D in appearance. It’s made locally, sustainable and in a low-impact way,” said Beate.
They already run one shop in Todmorden, but that will become appointment only while they find their feet in the new shop.
Their move started after their woollen wears were on sale in Heart Gallery.
“We did a sale in the garden there and just thought it’s gone so well there’s got to be something in it,” said Beate. “There’s more footfall and interest with tourists here than in Todmorden,” she said.
Their opening days have been successful.
“They’ve been brilliant. It’s been really nice to see some new faces and there’s been lots of enthusiasm.”
