Yorks troops will hold re-deployment parade

12 MECHANIZED BRIGADE MEDIA DAY''You are invited to join 12th Mechanized Brigade (12 Mech Bde) at Copehill Down, Salisbury Plain Training Area, Wiltshire, on FRIDAY 09 MARCH 2012, as it prepares to deploy to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, on Operation Herrick 16, in the Spring of this year. Task Force Helmand, as they will be known for Op Herrick 16 will be a Joint Task Force - led by 12 Mech Bde and with supporting elements from all three services.''Throughout the Media Day journalists will be hosted by Regional Press Officers and Unit Press Officers. The 3rd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment held a re-deployment parade and church service in Warminster today.

It was the unit’s last public appearance before flying out to become part of the 12th Mechanized Brigade in Helmand Province.

The church service will begin with an act of remembrance to the six soldiers who died in an explosion in Southern Afghanistan.

Sergeant Nigel Coupe of 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, and Corporal Jake Hartley, Private Anthony Frampton, Private Christopher Kershaw, Private Daniel Wade and Private Daniel Wilford, all of the 3rd Yorkshire, were killed last week.
