Groups across Halifax were given a festive boost thanks to the hard work of Yorkshire Water employees.

Their offices were transformed into Christmas grottos as staff wrapped hundreds of hampers, including toys, toiletries and food, to donate to community groups in Halifax and across Yorkshire.

Employees from the water company made the most of the season of goodwill and brought some Christmas cheer to Mixenden Parents’ Resource Centre and the Basement Recovery Project.

Mixenden Parents’ Resource centre, which promotes the care and upbringing of children in the Mixenden estate and surrounding areas, will receive 40 toys. Basement Recovery Project, a self-help organisation offering support and inspiration to those involved with alcohol and substance misuse, will receive 80 food hampers.

Christine Fisher from Yorkshire Water said people had been amazingly generous.

“The generosity of employees this year has been overwhelming, with lots also giving up their time to help wrap and deliver the hampers,” she said.

“I’m delighted with the response and hope this small gesture will make a big difference for many this Christmas.

“A huge thanks to everyone who donated.”
