Cricket, tennis and sporting activities were on the timetable at coaching session at Ash Green Primary School.

Year 3 pupils at the school in Mixenden were given instruction on the foundations of various sports, tips on the games and the chance to improve skills in the programme via the Cricket Asylum sponsored by Fresh Smile Clinic in Huddersfield.

The sessions, would not have been available to children until they reach year 5 in school, encouraged youngsters to get involved in sports and cricket earlier and uses cricket as a basis for other games and activities.

The experience is hugely rewarding in that it contributes to a child’s confidence, teaches them about healthy competition, and gives them a sense of camaraderie in belonging to a team.
