Three children braved howling gales and rain to raise money for an up-coming school trip.
Barkisland School children Joe Hallos, nine, his sister Isobel, seven, and their cousin Phoebe Whippey, 10, took on the Yorkshire’s three peaks to raise money for next summers week-long trip to Manor Adventure in Shropshire.
It was the second year running Joe had taken on the three peaks, while Isobel and Phoebe completed it for the first time.
They were the only children in a 17-person walking party who took on the peaks – and the weather – and they raised more than £400.
Kelly Hallos, Joe and Isoble’s mum, said: “All the adults in the group said what an inspiration the children were. It was horrible weather and we thought we might get blown over, it was quite scary at times.
“But we made it in the end and I’m really proud of them all.”
They completed the 26 miles up and down the Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough peaks in 11 and a half hours.
