Have your say

A Perfect ‘Home from Home’.In the last few months we have had to break a promise to our lovely mum (Elsie, 96 years and with advanced dementia) on something we always vowed we would never do, and that was to place her into a residential home where she would receive 24 hour care.
To say the decision was traumatic is an understatement, however, we found the perfect home for mum at Bankfield in Sowerby Bridge but what we didn’t know about (and is impossible to detect in any brochure) was the exact level of care and understanding she would receive on a daily basis from Sue (the manager) and all her staff.
The depth of compassion, patience and kindness is palpable and any anxiety we had about our decision was immediately erased. Bankfield operates a twenty four hour open door policy system for visiting and empathy and understanding towards relatives is given in all policies and decisions. At a time when residential homes in general are receiving a negative press, Bankfield, Sue, and her team deserve the highest praise, they have a special give for caring and you cannot find that depth of compassion and care with the pages of a nursing manual. With their innate understanding and care for the elderly all of the staff at Bankfield are constant proof that you need more than a badge to be able to call yourself a nurse.
Thank you (a small word in the circumstances) to you all at Bankfield.
