A poem for Paralympic gold medallist Hannah Cockroft

Double Gold medallist Hannah Cockroft.
Double Gold medallist Hannah Cockroft.

In respect of Halifax Paralympian Hannah Cockroft and her 2 gold medals.

Let’s all praise Hannah Cockroft,

Please let me state the facts,

She has a will of steel, a gorgeous smile

And comes from Halifax.

Through adversity she`s triumphed,

Never seems to wear a frown,

Our Paralympic champ returned

Two gold`s to our home town

There`s a really special feeling

When you start to watch the race,

That girl the camera`s focused on

Is a local friendly face

I know we`ve had Mo Farah

And cyclist Bradley Wiggins flew,

Jess Ennis stole the nation’s heart

Greg Rutherford did well too

But with Hannah it’s just different,

She belongs to me and you,

Born and raised in Halifax,

Represents her nation too.

So it`s Hannah Cockroft we salute

And her Olympic spirit,

This town will always strive for gold

As long as she is in it!!

My tribute to a great girl and wonderful athlete..well done Hannah.

Regards, Steve Bennett.
