I AM writing in reference to the article in the Courier on January 19 concerning DART.
My husband suffers from Parkinson’s Disease. My husband and myself have used the service of DART for over 14 years as this is the length of time my husband has suffered from Parkinson’s.
We have always found the advice to be more than helpful. If it hadn’t been for DART my husband would not have got his Disability Living Allowance which would have meant he would have been housebound.
With DART’s help we also got a car on the mobility scheme which entitles my husband to get to his hospital appoinitments and for trips out.
We do not think we would have got the same expert advice anywhere else.
We do hope that our councillors come up with the funding to continue this valuable service which is being used by many people.
After all you get three throws of a dart to make a difference. And DART staff have certainly made a difference to so many people’s lives. So seeing they have only one chance, give them another chance to help keep this valuable service going.
