Can we look back and say this war was worthwhile?

Victims: the victims of any war are the soldiers and innocent children - pawns in the games of money and power played by people who never put their lives in harms way!

As the latest tragic episode of six more of our brave servicemen are killed in the unwinnable war in Afghanistan we get the usual propaganda from the usual people at the very top which includes both leaders of our political parties on how our country is being made safer by the tragic loss of our service men and women.

To put it bluntly it is the biggest load of baloney uttered by politicians who don’t know what a war entails.

The Russians gave up on this campaign over a decade ago after finally realising what a complete waste of time and of life and limb it was.

The real reason that Britain has become a haven for terrorists is that the war in Iraq which was illegal in the first place and on the whim of George Bush and his poodle Blair was nothing more than to satisfy their egos. David Cameron and all our politicians can spout all they want but the sooner all our troops are safely back home and out of this hellhole, the better it will be for all their families.

I would like to bet that inside the six months after the withdrawal of all the troops Afghanistan will become what is was before, a country in disarray and ruled once again by the Taliban. Our main concern should be putting our own country once more in a safe and sound position.

Get rid of the rabble dissenters and most of all the undesirables that should not be here in the first place.

We defeated a country of aggression twice in two World Wars that did not take as long as the fiasco known as Afghanistan.

I took part in the Second World War and now in my late 80’s I look back and think was it worthwhile?

I know it was but can the service men and women who have wasted over a decade of their lives in Afghanistan say the same?

I doubt it but try telling that to our politicians who may be hankering next to take on Iran.
