Go wild - and beat the economic cuts

Wild flowers in King Cross Road, Halifax.
Wild flowers in King Cross Road, Halifax.

I am almost as pleased to sing the praises of Halifax as I am about Jesus Christ!

In this connection, I was very pleased to note the meadow flowers on the traffic islands in King Cross Road. Once again the council is to be congratulated on this very innovative and attractive solution to beautify areas which can too often be blights on the road environment. I believe such schemes can be a help to wildlife in the spreading of natural wildflower seeds on the wind. In addition, in these straitened times, I’m sure it is an economical solution which must be bourne out by the natural self maintenance of wild sites in general. It may be of benefit if these natural areas could be extended further in Halifax. Once again, well done Calderdale Council!
