Keeping it in the Labour family

How nice it is to see the Halifax Labour Party keeping the business within the family.

We have the prospect of not only having the husband-wife tag team of Tim and Megan Swift, but Barry and Anne Collins (Mrs Collins is standing in the Labour safe seat of Ovenden) and Daniel Sutherland and his mum Lisa (Lambert).

Whatever the reason is, those three households will constitute half the Labour group in Calderdale.

They will potentially be taking home up to £110,000 for part-time work, between them.

I think it’s important to remember the (intended) philosophy behind being a councillor: donating your time in public service because of a passion to help your local community.

I do hope that’s the reason the above cohort are (or candidates to be) councillors.
