I felt dismayed to read in the Courier feature on Sowerby Bridge that planners want to build a further 425 - 950 properties in the area. My spirits plummeted even further at the predictions for the volume of traffic in Sowerby Bridge to increase.
Those of us who live here know that it is almost impossible to get through Sowerby Bridge by car in the morning or at tea-time, with traffic nose-to-tail, static or crawling along, and people naturally needing to cross the road which holds it up even more.
The appeal of Sowerby Bridge is because it is NOT over-developed - as yet. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it has not been homogenised like so many other areas.
Personally I would welcome the news that Sowerby Bridge is to be left just as it is.
