Letter: Corbyn's clear on his position

Scott Benton, leader of Calderdale's Conservative group, claims that Jeremy Corbyn's position on immigration is unclear (January 26). I don't think it is.

Mr Corbyn believes that people in this country should be properly trained and skilled, that employers should be stopped from using immigrants as a way of undercutting wages, and that a reduction in immigration will happen as a result of these measures.

He believes that where migrants have an impact on communities, local schools and health services must be given extra help.

Meanwhile the Government is imposing year upon year of austerity and is deliberately running our public services down.

I wonder if Mr Benton’s article is trying to keep the focus on immigration as a way of directing people’s attention away from what is really happening?
