Poor celebration of 60 years’ rule

Elland baths was commisioned and opened not only to give the towns folk a place to swim, but to commemorate the 60th year of Queen Victoria’s reign.

What sort of a council do we now have that insults our monarchy by closing the pool just as our current Queen celebrates her 60th year as ruler?

All for the modern measley sum of £450,000. This could be found by simply cutting the number of overpaid non jobs presently squandering tax payers money on such things as “away days”, “ town twining” and “bottled water”.

Pity we don’t still have the clout of our queen’s former namesake, a timely and appropriate cutting could prevent this act of treason!
