Rock Assembly – best school trip ever

As students from across your region celebrate the achievements at the end of the school year, I am delighted that the children’s charity The Transformation Trust has helped young people from St Catherine’s Catholic High School mark the start of summer with a bang at Rock Assembly, presented by MORE TH>N.

The free event for over 14,000 teachers and pupils was held on Wednesday 20 July, with St Catherine’s Catholic High School travelling all the way to London’s O2 arena to enjoy performances by chart-topping rapper Tinchy Stryder, Britain’s Got Talent winner’s Diversity, Chipmunk, Parade, SoundGirl and Hadouken!

The event is part of the work of The Transformation Trust to provide young people with access to extra-curricular activities and experiences they might otherwise not be able to afford.

In the past year alone almost 30,000 young people in around 700 schools have benefited from projects and events coordinated by the Trust.

I’m pleased that we were able to share what one teacher described as “the best school trip ever” with pupils from Halifax.
