Would you please pass on my thanks to all people who have been involved with the volunteer days we have held at Shaw Park in Holywell Green.
The dedication of the Holywell Green (and wider) community has been overwhelming.
Our first day was on March 6 on which 30-40 people turned up to help clear shrubbery, litter and ivy. On our second day, on March 16, several people turned up and classes from Holywell Green school who looked all around Shaw Park for wildlife.
I would also like to thank a lovely gentleman called Stuart who has to use a walking stick to get about but still managed to take part on both days. Now that’s what I call commitment.
The Greener Safer Cleaner team from Calderdale Council also need to be thanked as they gave up their time on the Sunday and attend our monthly committee meetings, the first Thursday of every month at 7pm in the United Reformed Church at Holywell Green.
Shaw Park will take several tens of thousands of pounds and lots of hard work to be completed but with the two ponds, swings, fresh water well, stone castle, follies and dovecote it will be worth the effort. If anyone wishes to be sent our monthly newsletter please leave your details on www.shawpark.org.uk
